The Litespeed Hard Alox reel is based on the successful Series 1 design. It weighs nearly 20% less than the old Litespeed through more aggressive porting that includes ported arbor. This Litespeed is called “Hard Alox” to describe the superior finish. “Alox” is short for Aluminum Oxide, which is the hard material on the surface. These reels undergo a unique anodizing process that results in a finish that is three times thicker and ten times harder than the standard type 2 decorative finish used on virtually every reel in the world. To their knowledge, this is the only reel that uses this super-hard finish.
